D7.1 Prototype of the PHMS

Executive Summary

This deliverable describes the prototype of the Prognostic Health Monitoring System (PHMS) which was designed and build in the HEMIS project. The system uses a physically distributed architecture, where communication between the PHMS subsystems uses vehicle bus standard Controller Area Network (CAN). The system is comprised of three satellite systems and one central unit, which is called Central PHMS. The satellites have been partitioned so that they measure physical characteristics which are related to the motor monitoring system, the control monitoring system and one is a measuring device for monitoring the occupants’ magnetic field exposure. The satellite systems send measured values to the Central PHMS, where PHM algorithms are executed. The results are sent back to the CAN bus.

The present deliverable describes the implemented systems and their validation. The algorithms are described in the deliverables of WP4 and the assessment of the occupants’ exposure is described in the deliverables of WP5. The limits of the physical characteristics to be monitored and the features of the monitoring systems are presented in the deliverables of WP6.
